Groundswell Goes Cold for DNZ

It has been a long week in politics for the DemocracyNZ Party after losing five candidates last weekend.

The party regrouped on Wednesday night through a Facebook live with its remaining ten candidates in an attempt to calm the storm and explain its position and continuing campaign.

The party is understood to have lost considerable support from its voluntary ranks following the Board decision to dismiss its Waikato candidate, Steve Cranston while supporters are also seeking to have donations returned.

A cold snap has hit the Groundswell of encouragement and momentum that has supported the party development over the last year.

With two former Groundswell co-ordinators in their ranks, Scotty Bright, candidate for Port Waikato and Roger Small, candidate for Waitaki, along with comments from leader Matt King the party appeared to be positioning itself as a dedicated farmer’s party following the recent success of the Dutch Farmer’s Party.

The Groundswell organisation maintains its independent position and is clear that “Groundswell have absolutely nothing to do with Democracy NZ or any other political party or candidates.”

Groundswell coordinators who have for their own personal reasons decided to join a party, first resign from Groundswell and Groundswell are no longer connected or communicate with them.

DemocracyNZ continues its Roadshow in the coming week in the lower South Island following a campaign launch in West Auckland last night for its Kelston candidate Leao Tildsley.
